Duck and goose shooting season opened here yesterday. Every man and his dog were out, I bagged 3 duck and 2 geese just using up old claybuster cartridges. Drawn and skinned, the skin can stay for the foxes, the meat in the freezer, the guts in the lake for the fishies. And about 2 gallons of stock to make soup with, if I can be bothered.
2 weeks or so I'll be back, and have more time to shoot more - with proper shot this time as well. There are more birds around than a man can shoot, I could close my eyes, shoot from the hip and probably still drop one. Looks like a good season!:applause_

Good for you JF.. dove season opens here in GA next sat and am looking forward to taking the boy and busting a bunch. Good luck this season.

Yeah Dove season opened here just yesterday... we have them like the plague... I can shoot them out of the trees in teh back yard w/ a BBgun....

Waterfowl season opens in late December or early January here.. I cant remember- But I don't hunt those.

Best dove hunting area around my house is now occupied with a budding 3200 acre master planned community. 2 years ago cows, doves, grouse... very very sad.

I guess I didnt build far enough out.

Beats the heck outta tromping through the brush with a shotgun and having to find your birds in the tall grass.:D

I can put fresh breasts on the grill a whole lot quicker that way!

First get the pit hot- Then shoot a few birds Breast em out and dress em up and have really fresh meat on the pit:applause_

We are within 1 month of Deer Season (archery) here in Michigan. Been out this past week cutting brush/lanes and getting the tree stand tuned up.

October 1 Archery Deer......November 15 Firearm Deer.

Looking forward to another season....kill or no kill.....took a great 8 pointer last fall...will be tough to beat that.....but the fun is in the hunt....we like the meat...and you can't eat horns....

Yeah - Monday I was out at our "country place" as we so quaintly call it.



Filled feeders and checked my feedplot- completely :rant:rooted and ruined by hogs:banghead:

Did see some deer in the next pasture over on Sunday @dusk and spooked some in the woods (snorts) adjoing my feeder.. so It's looking good. Need to get my trail cam set- I don't bowhunt... So my season starts Nov.1st. and I am soooo stoked!

That is virtually what it was like on Monday, but ducks and geese! Suspect someone was shooting further up the lake, so they were escaping - right into my line of sight. :D
